History

The history of Hyderabad is full of interesting episodes and political turmoil. This ancint city was founded by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, a ruler of Qutb Shahi dynasty, founded the city of Hyderabad that was located on the banks of the Musi River in the year 1591. The famous iconic monument Charminar was also built here under his rule. According to a legend, Bangalore has derived its name from an old woman, who lived in this area and offered a humble meal of boiled beans to a lost Hoysala ruler. But the demand for a separate Telugu speaking state compelled the Government of India to bifurcate the state into two, into the Telugu-speaking Andhra Pradesh and Tamil-speaking Tamil Nadu. The old capital Madras city was retained by the new Madras state.

Under the states reorganization Act 1956, Madras lost the Malabar district and the Kasaragod taluk to the newly formed Kerala State. At the same time, Madras gained four taluks of Trivandrum district and one taluk of Kollam district. In 1969, January, Madras State changed its name to Tamil Nadu. The capital city was renamed as Chennai in 1996.

West Bengal

History:
The history of the region goes back to the prehistoric times. Being a fertile region drained by major rivers, archaeological evidence of the prehistoric settlements has been lost under layers of mud and soil. History of Uttarakhand:
Uttarakhand has several mythological and historical associations and legends call it Devbhoomi (land of the gods). History

The history of Orissa is more than 3, 000 years old. Brief History:

New Delhi was built in early 20th century, as part of the British government’s plans of shifting the capital from Calcutta. The new city was planned by the famous British architect Edwin Lutyens and eventually built towards the South of Shahjahanabad, the Old Delhi built by Mughul Emperor Shahjahan in the 17th century. Building materials were procured from the nearby sites and old monuments, and although a large number of magnificent new structures were built for official and residential purposes, the British allowed many major historical monuments to stand amidst the new city. History

The seventeenth century saw the emergence of Marathas under the leadership of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Bhonsale who was eventually defeated by Aurangzeb. The Peshwas, who were able administrators and good warriors as well, were instrumental in the development of many forts in Maharashtra .

The advent of the British resulted in three Anglo-Maratha wars that were fought between the Marathas and the British. In the year 1819, the historic rule of the Marathas came to an end and slowly they annexed the princely states of Maharashtra such as Nagpur, Satara and Kolhapur that ultimately were brought under the Bombay Presidency in the year 1848.

After the Indian independence, it was on May 1, 1960 that Maharashtra came into existence when the Bombay Presidency was divided into the new linguistic states of Gujarat and Maharashtra.

History

Gwalior Fort Madhya Pradesh has a rich history that takes us to the time when Ashoka, the great emperor of the Mauryan Empire used to rule the Malwa region. The Parmaras also used to rule here about 1,000 years ago in the southwestern region of Madhya Pradesh and among them the predominant ruler was Raja Bhoj. The city is said to have derived its name from him. His empire also extended upto Indore and Mandu. Later the Chandelas saw prominence in Madhya Pradesh and their love for art and creativity is apparent from the extraordinary series of temples at Khajuraho that were built in the northern part of the state. The Mandu region of Madhya Pradesh has witnessed continuous conflict between Hindu and Mughal rulers. Madhya Pradesh has also been the land of many gallant warriors, poets and musicians, saints and philosophers.

Several other dynasties have also ruled over Madhya Pradesh such as Sungas, Andhras, Satavahanas, Kshaptrapas, Nagas and the Guptas. Eventually, Madhya Pradesh came under the rule of the Britons and after independence it got the status of a full-fledged state on 1st November, 1956.
